WSH Approved Code of Practice on Chief Executive’s and Director’s WSH Duties (rerun 13)

Due to the unusual increase of WSH accidents in 2021 & 2022, MOM introduced a number of measures to address this & the resulting high fatality rate.

Separately, WSHC announced the launch of the Code of Practice (COP) on Chief Executives & Board of Directors’ WSH duties on 10 Sept 2022 (which was to be gazetted as Approved COP [ACOP]) and issued a set of related FAQs. This is timely as WSH matters should be of concern to & should involve the top management & BOD.

This course will discuss the ACOP & related FAQs and their impact on top management, CEOs, Directors, Workplace Safety Officers and even PEs, Engineers, Contractors, etc. The course will also provide pointers to comply with ACOP and to contain any possible legal liabilities.

Trainer’s CV:

Mr. Lee Kwok Weng, B.Eng. (Mech)(S'pore), MSc.(Ind.Eng)(NUS), Dip.BA(NUS), Grad Dip Mktg.(MIS), LLB(Hons)(Bucks), LLM(Lond), Barrister-at-Law, Advocate & Solicitor (Retired), Supreme Court of Singapore, Hon FMIS, FIES, Honorary Legal Advisor, IES (1992 to 2020) & SISO (1998 to 2018), Arbitrator & Mediator, a senior lawyer, was in continuous private legal practice for 30 years running his own law firm before his retirement from active legal practice.

Mr. Lee continues to operate his business entity as business management consultant, project claims & project management consultant and legal compliance & documentation consultant. He still continues as an Arbitrator & Mediator and representing parties in arbitration & mediation.

A well sought after speaker & trainer, he has been for many years an Adjunct Associate Professor at the Faculty of Business Admin, National University of Singapore, teaching Business Law in the MBA programme. Mr. Lee has also for many years an Adjunct Lecturer at the Nanyang Technological University, Curtin University (MIS Campus), UNISIM, IES Academy, PSB Academy & BCA Academy. He specialises in Business Contracts, Negligence, Information Technology and Engineering & Building Laws. He is a very experienced lecturer and trainer and is well-versed in the technical field, marketing and management practice too. 

Mr. Lee brings with him considerable industrial project and business development management experience, having worked for more than 12 years as a project engineer & project manager in the public & private sectors and eventually before he switch to the legal profession, as a senior project manager in a leading Multi-national engineering and construction corporation serving the energy oil and gas industries onshore and offshore. 

 A "dot.com" & knowledge senior lawyer himself before he retired from active practice, Mr. Lee also brings with him a wealth of practical knowledge & experience of the legal requirements, setting & starting and managing businesses in the knowledge economy as he is a co-founder of and legal/corporate adviser to some dot.com/internet companies.
